I graduated with an MA in Teaching for Social Justice in August 2015. The focus of my graduate action research was on the role of school libraries in promoting diverse literature. Check out my blog for book reviews and highlights of student work.
I have taught in different capacities since graduating from Smith College in 2008. I've had wonderful moments teaching kindergarteners about compost, reading Edward Abbey and Arundhati Roy to a group of teenagers as we sit in the shadow of Glen Canyon Dam with the Cottonwood Gulch Foundation, and writing kale poetry with students at Emerson Elementary in Berkeley. These moments inspire me to always want to know more and do more about being a smarter and better teacher.
Since participating in a 200 hour yoga teacher training with the Niroga Institute in Berkeley, California, integrating mindfulness and movement into learning environments has been a part of my teaching practice.
Please contact me with information about work and collaboration, book recommendations, or to say hello.
